Bicyclist's Cause of Death Determined

The 72-year-old man was conscious and talking after being tapped by a car in Niles Monday. But he collapsed as a police officer was writing up the report.

After Stanley Lorkiewicz, 72, of the 7500 block of Octavia, near Niles, collapsed and died after a car lightly struck the bicycle he was riding, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has performed an autopsy.

They gave the cause of death as acute coronary thrombosis, which a representative said is like a blood clot in the heart. They ruled Lorkiewicz died of natural causes.
