Boyfriend Hits Woman, Her Daughter Calls 911

The couple had been arguing all day.

Mario Rangel, 30, of Niles, was charged with domestic battery after his 34-year-old girlfriend told police on Monday, Aug., 8, that they had been arguing all day and that he had punched her on her forearms and right calf. Rangel told police he was only trying to defend himself.

Police photographed bruises on both of the woman's forearms and right ankle, but did not see injuries on Rangel.

The victim's daughter, who phoned police, saw Rangel trying to hit her mother, though she said she didn't see him make contact. The police report did not give the daughter's age.
