Break-Dancing Insult Leads to Brick In the Head

Injured teen was taken to the hospital with bleeding.

Justin Carroll, 18, of Niles was charged with reckless conduct and battery/bodily harm after police responded to a teenager who said Carroll threw a brick at him, causing a head injury, on Wednesday.

The victim was with friends in an outside common area of a location in the 7900 block of Caldwell, Niles, and said that Carroll ridiculed their break-dancing abilities. The victim said he responded, "nobody was talking to you," to Carroll. Carroll threw something at the victim, and the victim thought at first it was mud or dirt. He put his hands up to block it, but it hit him in the upper forehead. He looked down and saw that what had hit him was a broken brick.

The victim, who was bleeding from the head, told police the offender's name and that he lived nearby, although he didn't know the address. Paramedics took the victim to the hospital, where he received eight stitches and was released that day.
