Brothers-in-Law Throw Punches at Store

Witness could not tell Niles police who started fight, but said both men were aggressive.

Two brothers-in-law were arrested for disorderly conduct after they scuffled in a store in the 6100 block of Touhy Avenue on Oct. 1. 

Alvin Dimaranan, 29, of North Mango Avenue in Chicago, was shopping in the appliance section when he was approached by Lloyd Ricafrente, 26, of North Monitor Avenue in Chicago. Dimaranan told police Ricafrente is his brother-in-law and that they have fought in the past.

The fight left Dimaranan with small cuts on his hand and red scuff marks on his neck; Ricafrente cut a finger on his opponent's sunglasses when he struck him in the face.

A witness could not tell police who threw the first punch but said both men fought aggressively.

Both men were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for treatment. They are scheduled to appear at the Cook County Courthouse in Skokie on Nov. 5.

Parking lot attack leads to arrest

Ihtaj Durakovic, 36, was arrested for battery and bodily harm after he argued with and then punched a victim on Oct. 1. Police reported that the victim was walking through a parking lot with a cart when Durakovic got out of his vehicle. He then approached and bumped into the victim before punches were landed to the victim's face. causing a scratch. Durakovic left the scene but police stopped him a few blocks away. His court date is Nov. 5.

Bike stolen at middle school

Emerson Middle School, 8101 N. Cumberland Ave., reported a student's locked bicycle was stolen from a bike rack. Another student reportedly spotted two men riding bicycles away from the school. The witness said he knew one of the bikes belonged to the victim, and attempted to stop the men who fled the area.
