After a brutal car wreck on Dempster Street Thursday morning killed a 23-year-old Chicago man, police are asking for the public's help in identifying a white passenger vehicle which was in the area at the time of the crash.

The car police are seeking is labeled in the accompanying video.

Skokie Police Commander Brian Baker, who is involved in the investigation of the crash along with the North Regional Major Crime Task Force Major Crash Assistance Team, (N.O.R.T.A.F.-M.C.A.T.), said Friday that another car was involved in the unfolding of the crash in some way, and drag racing may have occurred.

The crash, which occurred just after 11 a.m. in the 3800 block of Dempster Street in Skokie, killed the driver, John Khosho, and split his black Ford Mustang in two after it hit a tree.

Skokie police released the following updated press release Friday afternoon: 

On Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 11:05 a.m. Skokie Police Officers responded to a traffic crash at 3850 Dempster, Skokie, IL. 

The incident was a single-vehicle, single-occupant crash resulting in the fatality of the driver, John Khosho, 23, of Chicago.  The vehicle, a black 1996 Ford Mustang coupe, traveling westbound on Dempster St., left the roadway and struck a tree on the parkway in front of 3850 Dempster.  The driver was wearing a seatbelt and the vehicle’s air bag was deployed.  It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol is a contributing factor in this crash. 

The Skokie Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a white vehicle that  may have been a contributing factor in this crash.  Please see the attached video for the image of the white passenger vehicle.  If anyone has information that can help in identifying the white vehicle or its driver please contact the Skokie Police Department at 847-982-5900.
