Car Crashes Into Shoe Store

Two-impact crash happened in Village Crossing Shopping Center.

One vehicle hit another vehicle and then drove into the Famous Footwear shoe store in Village Crossing Shopping Center Wednesday at about 7:13 p.m.
The initial two-vehicle crash happened in Niles, but the store is in Skokie, so both police departments responded. Central Avenue, which runs down the middle of the shopping center, is the dividing line between the two villages.
Skokie Police Commander Paul Weinman said Skokie police responded to the scene, in the 7100 block of N. Central Avenue,  for a report of a traffic accident. The vehicle caused structural damage to a retail store in Skokie.

Niles police were called to the scene after Skokie police determined the two-stage accident initiated on the Niles side, Weinman said.

Niles Police Sgt. Ron Brandt said a vehicle traveling eastbound from the west end of the parking lot allegedly failed to yield, striking a vehicle traveling southbound on N. Cental Avenue in Niles, before continuing on to crash into the Famous Footwear shoe store located in Skokie.
