Car Window Smashed In Parking Lot

Police on patrol discovered it in the 8700 block of Golf Road. Arrest information is supplied by the Niles Police Department. An arrest is merely an accusation of guilt, not a conviction.

On Sunday at 11:54 p.m., a Niles police officer on patrol discovered a parked vehicle in a parking lot in the 8700 block of Golf Road with what appeared to be fresh damage. Police contacted the victim, a 37-year-old Des Plaines man, who arrived on the scene. Someone had broken the passenger side front window of his 2004 Pontiac four-door. Police said the vehicle did not appear to be burglarized.

Man charged with DUI

Delgermunkh Ranaagotov, 28, of Northbrook was charged with DUI Monday just after 1 a.m. after police observed him driving northwest-bound on Milwaukee Avenue in the 8200 block at a high rate of speed and swerving over the lane line, according to a police report.

When stopped, Ranaagotov indicated he did not speak English, police said. The officer observed an open can of Millwer Lite beer tucked into a storage compartment on the rear of the driver's seat, and smelled the odor of alcohol on the driver's breath, according to the report. He showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests, police said. During a check of the car, police said they found an additional can of beer and an empty 375 ml bottle of Smirnoff Vodka in the passenger compartment.

His court date is April 9 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
