Cop Shot By Niles Man Expected To Recover


After a Niles man, Eric M. Anderson, took his former girlfriend hostage in her mother's Arlington Heights home Dec. 13, Anderson shot the first police officer to arrive on the scene.

That officer, Michael McEvoy of the Arlington Heights Police Department, was just released after three and a half weeks in the surgical intensive care unit at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to chicago.cbslocal.com.

He's expected to eventually make a full recovery, the station reported.

Anderson was shot that night, taken to a hospital and died.
