Cops: Fake Prescriptions Submitted for Codeine Syrup

A doctor told police someone has been trying to fill fake prescriptions in several towns. Also: identify theft, retail theft. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

A pharmacist at a store in the 5600 block of Touhy told police on April 14 that a man, described as tall and thin, submitted a prescription for Phenergan/Codeine syrup at about 7:30 in the evening, according to the report. The pharmacy told him it would not be ready until the next day. When the pharmacy called the prescribing doctor's office, a doctor advised the prescription was fake, police said. A 48-year-old female doctor from Glenwood told a Niles police officer by phone that the prescription was the fourth fake in several days. A followup was requested.
