Cops: Man Caught With Heroin in 19 Baggies

He was stopped after trying to shoplift a shirt, police said. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

Tomasz Kurzawa, 29, of Glenview was charged with possession with intent to deliver, a Class 4 felony, and felony retail theft after an incident at a Golf Mill Shopping Center store on May 21, just after 7:30 p.m.

A security officer observed Kurzawa selecting a blue dress shirt from a store display, entering the fitting room and wearing it out of the fitting room, according to the report. He then went to a men's restroom, where he stayed for 90 minutes, then finally emerged and exited the store without paying for the shirt.

Police took Kurzawa into custody for the retail theft, and when doing a routine search, found 19 plastic bags containing heroin, a beverage lid used to cook the heroin, cotton balls, three syringes and a lighter, according to the report. All the items were in a size pocket of a gym bag he was carrying. It also contained one pair of headphones and the shirt he was wearing prior to putting on the blue dress shirt.

His court date is May 29 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

Angry woman threatens to slit victim's throat

In a telephone harassment case May 16 at a business in the 6400 block of Touhy, police spoke to a 23-year-old Morton Grove woman (the victim), who said a 24-year-old Hoffman Estates woman had made two threatening phone calls to the business, according to the report.

The woman who made the threats is the ex-girlfriend of the victim's 30-year-old uncle, who formerly worked at the business, the report indicated. The ex-girlfriend and the uncle have a child together.

The victim said that when the ex-girlfriend called the business two times on May 16, she threatened to kill the victim and her family and slit the victim's throat, according to police. When she called a second time, she said she would plant bombs in their cars. The victim believes the ex-girlfriend is upset over custody issues with the child she and the uncle have in common.

At the time of the report, the offender had an active order of protection dated May 14, 2013, but it had not yet been served. The victim requested a follow-up investigation and stated she would be willing to sign complaints.
