Driver Falls Asleep In Intersection, Charged With DUI
He said he had been to a holiday party.
Ronell Jackson, 22, of North Keystone Avenue, Chicago, was charged with DUI/alcohol after police observed him not moving forward when he had a green traffic light on Caldwell Avenue in Niles on Dec. 6 at about 2 a.m.
Police approached his car and saw he had his foot on the brakes and was leaning back and sleeping. After a rap on the window, Jackson woke up. He told police he had come from a Christmas party and had had a couple of beers. He showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests and his blood alcohol level tested at .124.
He was also charged with driving with a suspended license. His court date is Jan. 3 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

$920 worth of electronics stolen from car
Two victims filed a police complaint Dec. 8 saying that while their car was parked in the 6100 block of Touhy Ave., Niles, someone broke in and removed items they had just purchased. They included a black Toshiba laptop worth $700, a silver Sony camera worth $170, iPod ear buds worth $25 and an iPod carrying case worth $25.
