DUI Suspect Found Asleep With Car Running

Another DUI suspect also had pills and suspected cannabis in the car.

Saul Lopez, 41, of North Mobile Street, Chicago, was charged with DUI after police found him Monday, Aug. 15 at about 4 a.m. in the 8100 block of Prospect, Niles. 

He was slumped over the steering wheel, sleeping, with the vehicle running and the headlights on. The vehicle was not in gear. The officer woke him up and he said he was heading home from his job at a retail store at Golf Road and Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, and that he had had three beers about three hours prior. He failed field sobriety tests. His court date is Sept. 8 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

Stephen Wadlington, 27, of Cary was charged with DUI and DUI/Drugs, both Class A, after police saw him driving without headlights on Milwaukee Avenue near Dempster at about 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14. He told police he had two beers and was going home. After he failed field sobriety tests and police began the booking process, a routine search discovered 4.5 loose white pills, suspect Vicodin, and a green leafy substance, which field-tested positive for cannabis, in the offender's pockets. A vehicle search revealed a glass pipe bowl of the type often used for smoking cannabis, and green leafy plant-like material on the vehicle seat and floor. His court date is Oct. 3 in Skokie.

Information is taken from Niles police reports. Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
