Erratic Driver Charged With Cannabis Possession

Witnesses called police at about 8 a.m. Wednesday saying that a silver Jeep was weaving in and out of lanes, straddling lane dividers  and almost hitting other vehicles in the 7900 block of Milwaukee Ave., Niles.

Police found the Jeep in a parking lot of a drugstore in the 8000 block of Milwaukee and waited for the owner to return. When she did, police approached and noticed the smell of cannabis. When they asked her if she had any marijuana, she said she had a pipe and some marijuana in her purse. She gave permission to let police search her purse, and they found a green leafy substance and a pipe with residue. She was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Missing person located

A representative from a condo building in the 8800 block of Golf Road, Niles, called police March 15 to report an unwanted person who had slept on a couch in the lobby the previous night. Police ran a check on the suspect's name and founded out his family in Des Plaines had reported him missing four days earlier. Niles police contacted Des Plaines police and brought the man to the Niles police station to await a ride.
