Estranged Husband Charged $16,000 In Wife's Name In ID Theft Case, Police Say

Also, a golf ball caused $600 in damage. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

In a dispute, a woman living in the 8500 block of Western Avenue filed an identify theft report Aug. 17. She said she is filing for divorce from her husband, and during the process, learned someone had opened three credit cards in her name, without her knowledge, according to police reports. The total amount owed is $15,966.75. The woman said she never gave her husband permission to do such a thing. She asked for a report as a matter of record.

ID Thief Buys Train Ticket in England

In an identity theft case, a man living in the 8500 block of Osceola reported that two purchases, total $140, were made on his credit card at a store in Glenwood, Ill. on Aug. 7 and 9. There was also a purchase for a train ticket made in Coventry, England on Aug. 13 for $238. The victim had the cards in his possession throughout this time period, but has cancelled them. Police advised him to contact the three major credit bureaus and monitor his credit reports.

Golf Ball Causes $600 of Damage

In a criminal damage to property case reported Aug. 18, an employee of a business in the 7200 block of Dempster said that when he arrived at work at 6:30 a.m., he saw one garage door window on the east side of the business had been shattered. He found a golf ball on the garage floor, inside the business. He said it would cost $600 to repair the window, and wanted the incident document.
