Father Threatened While PIcking Up Child

Parents are going through a divorce.

A 33-year-old man who is going through a divorce was threatened by his father-in-law Saturday in the Niles Police Station parking lot. The man, who lives in Woodridge, and his wife complete a child exchange at the police station, and the wife's father, who is visiting from India, accompanied her to drop off the child. When the man was about to leave, the father-in-law made a threatening statement to him. The man does not know where his wife lives; he only has an email address for her.

Heirs squabble over patriarch's property

An 86-year-old Niles woman called police Saturday to report a dispute at her home. Her husband died about a month ago, and her grandson and her stepdaughter and the stepdaughter's husband had come to her home. An argument began when the stepdaughter wanted to take home one of her father's paintings. The argument escalated into a disagreement over financial matters. Police advised the parties to contact their attorneys and they left.
