Gang Graffiti Found Around Village

Markings have been found on garages, businesses and stores. Arrest information is supplied by the Niles Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

Many incidents of gang graffiti have been found around Niles:

  • At a Civic Center Drive restaurant on Feb. 17, police found graffiti on the rear of the building near the garbage cans.
  • In the 7700 block of Waukegan Road, someone wrote graffiti on a sign owned by the village. It was found Feb. 17.
  • Also in the 7700 block of Waukegan Road, someone sprayed graffiti on a business sign owned by a spa. It was found Feb. 17.
  • A woman living in the 8200 block of Osceola said a word had been spray-painted on her garage on Feb. 18, and police said it was not gang related. 
  • On Feb. 18, a man living in the 8300 block of Olcott said someone spray-painted a bird and an unknown word on his garage.
  • On Feb. 22, an employee noticed graffiti on the rear door of a business in the 8600 block of Golf Road.
  • On Feb. 22, police observed graffiti painted on a village fire lane sign.

Police arranged for property owners to have the graffiti removed. In the two cases in which graffiti was found on village property, the Public Works Department was asked to remove it.
