A garbage truck struck a passenger car at Harrison Street and Harlem Avenue Tuesday afternoon, according to police. At least one passenger, if not more, may be dead.
At least one person was killed after a garbage truck struck a passenger car at Harlem Avenue and Harrison Street around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to Glenview Police Cmdr. Dave Sostak.
Sostak said police are not releasing the names of individuals involved until they have notified families.
The garbage truck was heading north on Harlem when it hit the passenger car, which was traveling east on Harrison, according to Sostak. Both vehicles caught fire and had to be extinguished by Glenview firefighters. The driver of the truck was not injured, although multiple passengers of the vehicle may have been killed, according to Sostak.

No charges had been released as of press time.
In addition to Glenview police and firefighters, members of the Major Crash Assistance Team also responded to the accident.
