Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 just sent out the following alert:

Park Ridge Police have informed Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 of a suspicious incident that occurred on January 11 at about 2:00 p.m.  A 15-year-old female exiting the Metra train depot at Dee Road was approached by an unknown male who asked her if she wanted a ride home.  The girl refused the offer.  The male gave her a phone number and asked her to call him if she wanted to hang out in the city.  The male followed her as she walked safely home, but did not approach her again.  The male is described as being between 25-35 years of age, about 5’6” to 5’8”, black with short hair, and wearing black clothing.  The Park Ridge Police are currently investigating the incident; please contact them with any information or concerns at 847-318-5252.

UPDATE: Lt. Duane Mellema of the Park Ridge Police Department confirmed the girl was a student at Maine South High School in Maine Township High School District 207.

"The circumstances are odd," he said. "He followed her for several blocks, and they had to pass by his car. It doesn't seem from the report that the girl was engaging him in any significant way, so it's strange he wouldn't have gotten in his car and left."
