Imposter Bilks Woman of $3,355

He posed as her grandson in a long-distance call.

 An 85-year-old woman living in the 5700 block of Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, reported to police on June 3 that a man from the Dominican Republic called her posing as her grandson, “Billy” and said he was in jail in the Dominican Republic and needed $3,355 for bail. She wired him the money and later found out it was not her grandson.

Offender flashes gang signs, cracks driver’s windshield

When a 33-year-old Glenview man was stopped at a stop light in the 9600 block of Milwaukee  at 2:30 a.m. on June 4, a car with four men pulled up next to him and a 17-year-old male from Chicago jumped out and began flashing gang signs. The 17-year-old then picked up an object from the ground and threw it at the victim’s windshield, which cracked it. The victim feared for his safety and tried to flee, in the process striking the car in front of him. The victim declined to sign complaints.
