iPhone, Cash, Stolen While Man At Gym

He was working out and valuables were taken from his car. Arrest information is supplied by the Niles Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A 26-year-old Park Ridge man reported on Feb. 12 that he had parked and locked his vehicle outside a fitness center in the 9200 block of Milwaukee Avenue and gone inside to work out at 1 p.m.

When he returned at 3 p.m., he found his iPhone 4, headphones and cash missing from the center console , and his shoes missing from the front passenger seat, police said. A police evidence technician processed the car but did not find anything of value as evidence.

Hans Mondragon-Herrera, 23, of Niles was charged with DUI and driving without a valid driver's license Feb. 13 just after 4:15 a.m. when police responded to a noise complaint in the 8300 block of Maynard. When they arrived, police found a silver BMW parked and running, with its emergency lights flashing, in front of a residence. Music was coming from the vehicle and could be heard well beyond 75 feet, police said. The officer found three people in the vehicle, and, when asked for identification, the driver supplied a Mexican identification card, police said. According to the report, when police asked him if he drove to that location, he said yes. The driver showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests, police said. His court date is March 28 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
