Limo Driver Speeds 90 MPH Down Touhy Avenue

He said he had to pick up a client downtown. Arrest information is supplied by the Niles Police Department.

 

Cristian Chifor, 31, of North Kenneth Avenue, Chicago, was charged Saturday with reckless driving and speeding more than 40 mph over the speed limit after police stopped him in the 8400 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 5:17 a.m.

Police said Chifor was driving 90 mph in a 35 mph zone, and said Chifor told them he needed to be in downtown Chicago at 6 a.m. to pick up a client. Police took him into custody and turned over the vehicle to an employee of the limousine company which owned it. His court date is May 21 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

$525 worth of paint stolen

A man in his 30s put five gallons of paint, worth $525, in a shopping cart and failed to pay for it at a home repair store in the 8600 block of Dempster on Monday just after 3 p.m., police said. The man took the cart to the parking lot and left the area in a white Ford van. Police obtained surveillance video from the store and are investigating.
