Your pet must be at least 3 months old and only cash or checks will be accepted, so stop at the ATM before you leave the house with your pets. It would be advisable to have your pets on leash or in a carrier.

Once you have your pet up to date on rabies, mircro chipped and dropped off at home, take a trip to Morton Grove Village Hall. According to village officials, if you are a village resident you must register any dog, cat or ferret that is older than 6 months. A village pet license costs $10 per year for an animal who is spayed or neutered, current on rabies and micro chippped. They must meet all three qualifications in order to receive the lower fee, if they only have rabies and micro chip, then the fee is $25 per year.

Note that according to the ordinance 6-4-5 under Owner Responsibilities section B, a resident may only have a total of 3 licensed pets per residence. If you already went to village hall before July 1 and bought a lifetime pet license, you do not need to do this second trip.

The new village animal warden, community service officer Shannon McMillon, will be on hand to talk with residents if he is not out on a call. So bring Fluffy, Fido or Fuzzy down to the Cook Country Animal and Rabies Control sponsored clinic this Wednesday. You never know, their picture might end up here in Patch.com!
