Man Batters Wife Until Cops Pull Him Off

They were arguing over the topic of infidelity in a bar, then the fight escalated in the parking lot. An arrest is merely an accusation and does not indicate a conviction.

Fernando Tereza-Fernandez, 20, of North Lawndale Avenue, Chicago, was charged with domestic battery June 18 at about 12:20 a.m. after police responded to a parking lot outside a nightclub in the 8500 block of Golf Road for a report of a woman screaming.

As a police sergeant arrived, he said he observed Tereza-Fernandez beating his wife and then lifting her off her feet and onto his shoulders and trying to force her into his vehicle. He continued to batter her until police pulled him off, they said.

The wife, 22, later told police she was with her husband in the nightclub when an argument over infidelity erupted, they said. Both parties were upset and went outside, where the wife became scared and decided to call her sister to ask for a ride home, according to the report. Police said Tereza-Fernandez pulled her by the hair towards his vehicle.

His court date is June 26 at 1:30 p.m. in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
