Man Charged After Acting Like 'Monster' To Wife, Police Say

An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

Nadil Durakovic, 48, of Chicago was charged with domestic battery after an incident with his wife.

The wife, 40, who has moved in with a friend in Streamwood as the couple is getting divorced, told police that she got off work around 9:30 p.m. July 22 and was walking westbound in a parking lot in the 8200 block of Golf Road on her way to the bus stop. According to the report, she noticed Durakovic was following her in a Chrysler Pacifica, a vehicle which he took away from her when she moved out. She continued walking to the bus stop, but then saw her 5-year-old son was in the car. Durakovic opened the door and told her to get in, and when she declined, he called her a derogatory name and accused her of waiting for her boyfriend, the report indicated.

The woman was afraid for her son's safety, police said, so she got into the vehicle's back seat. The son was sitting in the front seat. Durakovic drove around Niles, took the woman's cell phone away and then became a "monster," she told police. When the boy began to cry and the woman tried to comfort him, Durakovic told her not to touch or kiss his son, implying she had performed sex acts on other men that day, according to the report.

The woman told police Durakovic slapped her face and grabbed both her chest area and her groin area, and repeatedly called her "a ... slut," the report said. After about an hour of driving, he stopped in the area of Barrington Road and Higgins, gave her her cell phone back and told her to get out of the car, calling her a whore, police said.

As the woman was walking, she found two Hoffman Estates police officers and filed a report with them. They told her to go to the Niles police department to file a report of domestic battery. Niles police said they observed scratches on her left arm. Durakovic's court date is Aug. 3 at the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
