Man Charged In Stabbing Of Cabbie Last Week

A Chicago man, who police said stabbed a cab driver in Park Ridge, was charged with armed robbery on Aug. 28.

 

A 23-year-old Chicago man was charged with armed robbery, a Class X felony, after he allegedly stabbed a cab driver.

Antonio C. Olivier is alleged around 9:30 p.m. The location is about five blocks south of Oakton Street in Niles.

Olivier directed the cab driver to an unlit street claiming that he needed to speak to his family. When the driver pulled over, Olivier demanded money from the cab driver and then proceeded to stab the man in the side of the head and also in the stomach, police said. Olivier took $65 from the cab driver and fled the scene.

The victim was later transported to Lutheran General Hospital for his injuries, which police said were serious, but not life-threatening.

Olivier was arrested without incident near his home in the 7300 block of North Seeley Avenue, Chicago, by Chicago's 24th District Police Department after Park Ridge police passed along a tip regarding the robbery.

Olivier will be in court for a bond hearing later today.
