Man Chokes Woman, Witness Reports

The offender left the scene but police picked him up.

A witness called 911 to report that a man was choking a woman in an apartment in the 9000 block of Cumberland, Niles, on April 23 at about 9:30 p.m. The female broke free, and, when the witness said he was calling police, she told him, "mind your own business." The victim left, and when police arrived, they located the offender walking on the street at Clifton and Davis Streets. The offender, 35, is married to the victim, also 35. Police phoned the victim, who returned to the scene. The officer didn't observe any marks on her, and she didn't want to sign complaints. Police issued a domestic violence form and referred the case to Niles Family Services.

Thomas Nuzzo, 40, of Wheeling, was charged with DUI April 23 after police observed him speeding and weaving  in the 7400 block of Waukegan, Niles. He showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests. His court date is May 17 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
