Man Crashes Car Into Street Pole
Police found him at Dunkin Donuts and charged him with DUI. Arrest information is supplied by the Niles Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Migel Rojas of Glenview was charged with DUI Feb. 17 just after 2 a.m. when police responded to the intersection of Harlem and Milwaukee Avenues for a vehicle crash. The officer found a white Chevrolet Impala resting against a traffic signal pole, with severe damage to its front end, both airbags deployed and the horn blowing continuously, according to the police report.
The officer tried to locate the driver and entered the Dunkin Donuts on Harlem Avenue, just north of the intersection. Inside, he spoke with Rojas, who said he had fallen asleep while driving, according to the report. The officer said he smelled alcohol on Rojas' breath, police said. Rojas showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests, according to the report. Police also cited him for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, no proof of insurance and no driver's license on his person. His court date is March 17 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

A 64-year-old woman who lives in the 8400 block of Normal Street reported on Feb. 16 just after 2:30 p.m. that her home had been burglarized. It happened between 9:15 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. that day, according to the report. Police are investigating.
