Man Crashes Into Tree, Charged With DUI

He was also charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

William Varga, 20, of Niles was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after he crashed his vehicle into a tree and a parked vehicle in the 8200 block of Knight at about 3:21 a.m. on Sunday, police said. His vehicle traveled onto the front lawn of a home before striking the tree. According to the report, Varga had an odor of alcohol on his breath and admitted drinking two or three beers. Both he and a passenger refused medical attention, the report said.

Police said during a pat-down of Varga, they discovered three glass smoking pipes of a type commonly used to smoke marijuana. Varga also told police there was a small amount of cannabis in the vehicle, according to police. The report indicated Varga showed impairment on field sobriety tests. His court date is Aug. 24 at the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
