In an interview with Patch, Des Plaines Police Commander Randy Akin said McGinnis and his girlfriend were reported to have been in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical altercation, when, to defend herself, his girlfriend stabbed him in the area of the heart with a cutlery steak knife.
McGinnis was a former Evanston resident, had lived out-of-state for a couple months, and had been residing at the Polo Inn with his girlfriend for approximately a week before this incident, according to police.
Akin said Des Plaines police’s investigation was complete and no charges would be filed at this time.
