Man Responds To Threats With Fist, Charged With Battery

A woman's husband and ex-huband come to blows after one threatened he would harm the other's family in Serbia. An arrest is merely an accusation and not evidence of a conviction.

Marko Bojkovic, 27, of Niles was charged with battery Sept. 14 at about 9 p.m. after a scuffle in the 7300 block of Lill Street with his wife's former husband, according to police. The former husband had arrived for child visitation, and had just pulled up in his car when, he told police, Bojkovic reached into his car window and punched him in the eye, according to the police report. The former husband stuck a leg out the window attempting to kick Bojkovic, who grabbed his shoe, according to the report. Police observed red marks on the ex-husband's left eye, left leg and right hand, the report said.

Bojkovic was sitting on the front stoop of his home, where he lives with his wife and her children (whose father is the ex-husband), according to the report. Also present was his brother-in-law, who explained Bojkovic does not speak English well, and translated for him. Police said Bojkovic told them that two day ago, the ex-husband had phoned his ex-wife's father and threatened to kill Bojkovic and his family in Serbia. For that reason, police said Bojkovic told them, he wanted to defend himself when the ex-husband arrived, and that the ex-husband had approached the house, tried to punch Bojkovic, missed, and then Bojkovic punched him in the face, causing him to fall and for his shoe to come off.
