Man Says Wife, Son Accuse Him Of Dementia To Control Money

Police responded to a domestic dispute in the 7100 block of Greenleaf Nov. 7 at 9:45 p.m. and a 72-year-old man said his wife and 28-year-old son have accused him of dementia in order to get him to sign documents turning control of his finances over to them, according to the report.

The wife told police her husband has been forgetting things and may be in the early stages of dementia, police said.

Police interviewed the husband, who they said denied having any memory problems or major health issues. The man appeared very aware of his present and past conversations, police indicated.

The husband/father decided to leave the house for the night. Police notified an elder abuse hotline, which will make contact with the family.

Mother doesn't like daughter's nightclubbing outfit

Police responded to a domestic dispute Nov. 8 at 10:20 p.m. at a home in the 8600 block of Merrill, where, according to the report, a 44-year-old woman argued with her 22-year-old daughter about the way the daughter was dressed to go out to a club. Police said the mother did not want the daughter to leave the house, and said the daughter had been diagnosed with personality disorders and had not been taking her medication. 

Police said the daughter did not exhibit any issues in caring for herself. The daughter left the house for the night. Police submitted a referral to Niles Family Services.
