Man Slaps Woman, Accuses Cheating, Police Say

He saw her talking to another man. In another incident, a camera and clothing worth $2,800 was stolen. An arrest is merely an accusation and does not indicate a conviction.

Reyes Garcia-Jasso, 41, of West Fletcher Street, Chicago, was charged with domestic battery Dec. 31 at about 2 a.m.

Earlier, at about midnight, a woman who works in the same workplace as Garcia-Jasso in the 6200 block of Howard Street, was taking a break from her job and standing outside talking to a male friend. The woman, who speaks only Spanish, told officers through an interpreter that Garcia-Jasso became upset, believing she was cheating on him, according to police. He yelled at the victim and slapped her on both cheeks, according to the report.

Officers went to the workplace, took the man into custody and booked and processed him. His court date is Jan. 11 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts. Police issued the victim a domestic violence form and victim's compensation act form.

Camera and clothing worth $2,800 stolen

On Dec. 31, a 28-year-old Northbrook woman returned to her 2011 Hyundai SUV, parked in a parking lot in the 8900 block of Milwaukee Avenue, just before 9 p.m. and discovered someone had taken two backpacks containing clothing and a camera valued at $2,800. Because the woman and her passengers touched items in the vehicle, police said it could not be processed for evidence.
