Man Threatens Employee, Flashes Gang Signs

Offender asked why victim was talking to his girlfriend.

A 19-year-old male store employee, who lives in Des Plaines, told police he was walking through the parking lot of the store, in the 8500 block of Golf Road, Niles, at about 1 p.m. Monday when a 20-year-old man approached him and asked why he (the victim) was talking to the offender's girlfriend. He pushed and punched the victim, and the victim said he flashed gang signs.

The offender left, and the victim said he didn't feel safe working outside after the incident took place. No surveillance video was available.

A 75-year-old woman told police that while she was at work Aug. 21 at about 3 p.m., someone tried to break into her home office in her condo building in the 8800 block of Golf Road, Niles. She said there were dents in the deadbolt lock, but nothing was missing. Police did not observe signs of forced entry.
