Man Throws Chairs Through Windows, Causes Mayhem In Home

He threw over the dining room table, broke several windows and caused a lot of damage.

Robert L. Youkhana, 49, of Skokie was charged with knowingly damaging property, a Class 4 felony, after a domestic dispute on July 31 just before 4 p.m.

A 40-year-old woman who lives on Cumberland Ave., Niles, who is separated from Youkhana, called police saying he was destroying things in the house and breaking windows.

The woman said she had been sleeping when Youkhana arrived at her home, seeking an Illinois food stamp LINK card that was shared by her and Youkhana. Their 18-year-old son, who lives with his mother, let his father in. When the mother and son did not give Youkhana the LINK card, he began throwing things. He threw the dining room table over, damaging it, and broke three windows with a chair. He slapped a lit candle in a glass candleholder against another window, breaking it, too.

Niles police photographed the damage to the home and interviewed the mother and son.

While Niles police were responding to the initial 911 call, the mother/wife  advised that Youkhana had fled in a black Buick and she believed he was heading to his home in Skokie. Skokie police stopped him near his residence and Niles police took custody of him and charged him. His court date is Aug. 10 at the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
