Man Tries To Choke Brother, Gets Bitten

The laceration was bleeding moderately.

Samaan Youkhana, 40, of Niles was charged with domestic battery Aug. 7 after police responded to a call about an argument between him and his brother just before 7 p.m. Niles Fire Department paramedics treated Youkhana for a laceration to his thumb, which was bleeding moderately.

The victim complained Youkhana was intoxicated and had pushed him up against a wall, trying to choke him. In the choking attempt, the offender stuck his thumb in the mouth of the victim, who bit it. An anonymous witness corroborated the victim's story. Youkhana's court date is Aug. 19 in the Skokie branch of the Cook county courts.

Emily McClelland, 25, of Niles was charged with DUI after police observed her vehicle stopped at a red traffic signal in the 7400 block of Oakton Street, Niles. When she sat through a green light without moving and the light turned red again, officers approached and saw her hunched over the steering wheel asleep. The transmission was in neutral. 

Police tapped her on the shoulder to wake her up and asked her to perform field sobriety tests. She said she was coming from a graduation party and had had a few beers. Her court date is Sept. 6 in Skokie.
