Man Vandalizes Nursing Home

He threw large stones at windows and tore away window screens. Arrest information is supplied by the Niles Police Department. An arrest is merely an accusation and does not indicate a conviction.

Mark Anderson, 32, of Lombard was charged with disorderly conduct and knowingly damaging property April 6 after Niles police said he threw large stones at a nursing home in the 8500 block of Golf Road just after midnight. He also tore away three window screens from the window, then fled before police arrived, police said.

Officers were able to locate him after 2 a.m. at a retail store one block southeast from the home. Police said he was trying to see his girlfriend, who lives at the nursing home. Police said Anderson had a backpack which contained many unopened items, including headphones, two baseball gloves, pens, cigarettes and playing cards, as well as a cutting tool they believed was for removing theft detection devices. Police said they asked him where he obtained the merchandise and whether he had a receipt, and they said he did not have a reasonable explanation of how and where he purchased the items. Police said Anderson was involved in a similar incident April 5, in which he was seen on the complainant's property without permission. Police inventoried the items they believed were stolen for further investigation or proof of ownership. Anderson's court date was April 11.
