Man With Wife, Kids In Car Charged With DUI

An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.


Bassam Constantin, 37, of Des Plaines was charged with DUI Nov. 7 just after 2:45 a.m. when a Niles police officer stopped him for speeding, crossing over a lane line on Dempster Street in the 7500 block, failing to stop at a red light and failing to use a turn signal, according to the report. There were two adults and two children in the car, police said. He showed impairment on field sobriety tests. His court date is Dec. 20 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

Joseph Motroni, 19, of Park Ridge, was charged with DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Failure to Give Aid or Information Nov. 8 at 4 a.m.

A witness told police he rear-ended her in a hit-and-run crash at Oakton and Prospect, then fled westbound on Oakton until Park Ridge police stopped him at Greendale and Lincoln, according to the report. Niles police said Motroni had an odor of alcohol on his breath, and his passenger told police they had been drinking beer at a friend's house. His court date is Dec. 20.
