Man, Woman Charged With Marijuana Possession

Police stopped them while they were driving on side streets.

David Petrovic, 24, of Skokie and Amy Jensen, 22, of Niles were charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia Thursday just after midnight. They were driving near Monroe and Octavia, Niles, with Petrovic in the driver' seat, when police stopped them for erratic driving. They admitted to having cannabis and handed over a small plastic bag of a leafy substance and a glass pipe, as well as a silver grinder. Petrovic did not show any signs of impairment on field sobriety tests. 

The green leafy substance field tested positive for cannabis and weighed two grams. Both Petrovic and Jensen have a court date March 14 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

Fidencio Soriano-Torres, 19, of Park Ridge was charged with felony DUI alcohol/drugs and DUI/alcohol after a woman said her car had been hit in the intersection of Milwaukee and Dempster, Niles, by a white four-door vehicle on Feb. 13.

Police located the white car nearby, parked at the entrance to Maryhill Cemetery. The victim of the crash identified the car and the driver and passenger as the same people who had hit her car. Police smelled the odor of alcohol on the offender, who showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests.

Soriano-Torres was also charged with leaving the scene of the accident, failure to stop at a red light, blood-alcohol level over .08, failure to give aid and no valid drivers license.
