Man's Mobile Phone Grabbed At Shopping Center

It happened at 12:18 a.m.

A 50-year-old Niles man reported that on Sunday at 12:18 a.m., he was talking on his mobile phone in the Golf Mill Shopping Center parking lot when a man in his 20s grabbed the phone from his hand and ran away with it. The offender ran northbound. Police checked the area, but found nothing, and the incident was not caught on surveillance tape. The value of the phone was not reported.

Man charged with cannabis possession

Kostadino Karagiorgas, 42, of North Sawyer Avenue, Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after police stopped him in traffic in the 6300 block of Touhy, Niles, on Sept. 9 at about 10 p.m., due to the smell of burnt cannabis coming from his vehicle.

After being asked to turn over any cannabis in his possession, Karagiorgas gave police a marijuana cigar and a plastic bag of suspect cannabis. A police canine team conducted a vehicle search, which yielded about four grams of suspect cannabis and a metal smoking pipe. Karagiorgas was issued two ordinance violations and released.
