Men Steal From Charity, Police Say
They took bags from a donation bin, according to police. In another incident, a man was charged with felony theft. An arrest is merely an accusation and not evidence of a conviction.
An off-duty Chicago police officer witnessed three men break into charity donation bins stationed in a parking lot at 6100 Touhy Avenue on Jan. 4 at about 12:30 p.m., according to a police report.
One man drove the vehicle while two others hopped out, broke the locks on the bins and threw bags of clothing into the vehicle, then fled, according to Niles police. An official from the charity filed a report with the Niles police department, saying the clothing from the bins is typically distributed to people in need. Police are investigating.

Man charged with felony retail theft
George Papageorgiou, 44, of Chicago, was charged with Class 4 felony retail theft Jan. 3 at about 5 p.m. after a security agent at a store saw him concealing DVDs, two bottles of Lipozene, Clearasil and mints and exiting without paying, according to police reports. The total value was $55.79. An assistant state's attorney approved felony charges based upon a previous felony. His court date is Jan. 14.
