MoGro Blotter: Cannabis, Guy Who Didn't Stop

Police had to follow one driver all the way home. An arrest is merely an accusation and does not indicate a conviction.

 

Police responded May 14 in the 9200 block of Newcastle to a report of possible drug activity in an alley and charged five subjects with possession of cannabis. While still on the scene, police received information on another possible drug deal in progress in the same block.  Officers charged a sixth subject for possession of cannabis and a subject for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Those charged are: Michael Ochonicki, 31, Morton Grove; Suleiman Rihani, 19, Des Plaines; Brandon Sloan, 19, Chicago; Banjamin Park, 19, Des Plaines; Amil Nahhas, 20, Morton Grove; Dominic Lobo, 31, Morton Grove and Michael Lobo, 19, Morton Grove. Court date is scheduled for 6/04/12.

Jason Hagen, 42, of Niles was stopped May 19 at Washington and Ballard for traffic violations, police said, and charged with DUI. Court date is scheduled for 6/4/12.

Willie Echols, 59, of Chicago was stopped for traffic violations May 18 in the 8300 block of Austin, police said, and was charged with  driving with a revoked driver's license. Court date is scheduled for 6/11/12.

After police investigated two pedestrians they said were intoxicated on May 19 in the 6000 block of Dempster, they were charged with possession of cannabis. They are Juan Lopez of Morton Grove and Matthew Scheler of Niles.

On May 20 in the 7700 block of Dempster, police tried to stop a vehicle for speeding, they said, and the driver, Jeffrey Bahry, 49, refused to stop and drove to his home in Park Ridge, with police following him. He drove between 20 and 40 mph during the pursuit, obeyed stop signs, and used his turn signals when turning, according to police.  He was charged when he exited the vehicle.   

On May 20 in the 9100 block of Waukegan Road, Jamal Saad, 32, of Dearborn Heights, Mich. was stopped for traffic violations, police said, and found to be in possession of cannabis.

Someone started a fire in a dumpster May 29 in the 8300 block of Austin. 

Someone used spray paint and a marker to write graffiti on a newspaper dispenser and phone box at the Metra Station in the 8500 block of Lehigh.

Someone entered an unlocked garage in the 8600 block of Ferris May 20 and stole tools and bicycles.
