MoGro Police Blotter: Driving Charges; Financial Fraud; Warrant Arrests

Officers arrested 9 people in the past week and logged 8 incidents in the village.

"Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty," according to a statement from police Cmdr. Michael Fujara. All information comes directly from police reports. 

The Morton Grove Police Department released a statement about a homicide that occurred in 1979 and called for more information. You can read it in the media section.

Driving Violations

Brittanie Ari, 20, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence when police found her “slumped in the front driver seat in control of a running parked car” on April 21 in the 5800 block of Church Street. Police called an ambulance to the scene, and Ari was found to be intoxicated.

Horacio Hernandez, 27, of Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended license after police stopped his vehicle for traffic violations in the 7100 block of Dempster Street on April 22.

Ismael Cruz, 31, of Des Plaines, was charged with driving without a valid license after police stopped his vehicle for traffic violations in the 9600 block of Waukegan Road on April 23.

Damian Gomez, 18, of Morton Grove, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he was involved in a car accident on April 24 in the 5900 block of Lincoln Avenue.

Rodney Graves, 45, of Skokie, was charged with driving with a suspended drivers license after police stopped his vehicle for traffic violations on April 25 in the 8600 block of School Street.

Theft Charges

Jerry Walker, 36, of Broadview, was charged with retail theft after store security watched him take AXE body wash and Degree deodorant without payment on April 22 at the Walgreens, 5730 Dempster St.

Debbie Thrall, 40, of Chicago, was charged with “financial exploitation of the elderly” after she used someone’s ATM card and kept the cash without authorization on April 25 at 9514 Overhill Ave.

Outstanding Warrants

Ruel Hernandez, 30, of Skokie, was charged with obstruction of justice after police stopped him for “suspicious foot activity,” and he gave a false name and birthday to avoid arrest for outstanding warrants. He was taken into custody at 6315 Dempster St. on April 23.

Julius Miles, 25, of Chicago, was stopped for traffic violations and police discovered there were two outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was taken into custody April 25 in the 8900 block of Waukegan Road.

Other incidents

Someone urinated on the outside of the business at 5801 Dempster St. on April 21.

Credit cards were taken from a vehicle and used at two businesses on April 21 at 6821 Dempster St.

---

A vehicle was burglarized but nothing was reported taken while it was parked at 5437 Warren St. on April 22. A similar incident occurred at 8228 Mango Ave. on the same day.

Financial information was used to make unauthorized detail charges on an account on April 22 at 5709 Cleveland St.

---

A car was “keyed” that left marks on the vehicle while it was parked at 5411 Cleveland St. on April 23.

A purse was left in a business at 6901 Dempster St. and $75 was stolen from it on on April 23.
