The way things look, it can only get WORSE in a BAD economy... Why do you think all these towns have been building these HUGE Taj Mahal-style and state of the art police stations? I use to think that it was ONLY for the kickback from their "Preferred" contractors, but I guess I was wrong... My new thoughts are 50/50, that they build these HUGE Taj Mahal-style and state of the art police stations to help battle against the rising crime rate - and also to receive kickback from their "Preferred" contractors (some things will NEVER change - this is Crook County).
