Morton Grove Police Step Up DUI Patrols

State grant allows for extra enforcement.

Don't be surprised if you see extra Morton Grove police officers patroling for drunk drivers in the coming weeks.

The is stepping up its DUI patrols in the two weeks before Labor Day, according to Sgt. Dan Stueber. Officers will be out in the evening and early morning hours. (And no, they won't say exactly when and where they're going to be.)

The patrols are done in conjuction with the the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Division of Traffic Safety, according to a press release from police.

"Thousands are killed each year by drivers who had been drinking. The Morton Grove Police Department has a zero tolerance for impaired drivers. If we catch you, we will arrest you!" the release says.
