Morton Grove Woman Finds Missing Boy

Missing for two days, the Chicago teen, 15, was found by a jogger on a Glenview bike path this morning. After running away from an appointment at U of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital Tuesday, he may have walked from Hyde Park to the North Shore.

 

A 15-year-old boy with autism, who may have walked here from Chicago's South side, was returned to his parents this morning after being  missing for two days, Glenview Police said in a press release.

Mary Olander of Morton Grove, who was jogging, approached Kahil Gray, of Chicago, on a northbound Glenview bike path near Harms and Glenview Roads around 6:40 a.m., police said. She said she recognized his photo from news reports.

“He was fine. He was calm, Just walking. Just looked a little confused,” she told ABC 7.

According to police, Gray has been missing since Tuesday when he left his father while at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital for an appointment.

His parents believe he may have walked from Hyde Park to the North Shore, ABC 7 News reports.

Olander called police and Gray was immediately identified and taken to the where parents and Chicago Police were notified. 

The boy did not appear injured, police said, however upon the father’s request, was taken to  by paramedics for an examination and to reunite with his parents.

"Oh, it was joy, overwhelming," Kahil's mother, Beryl, shared with ABC 7.
