Police responded Nov. 20 at about 2:20 p.m. to a domestic disturbance between a mother and daughter at a home on Ottawa Street.
The 21-year-old daughter said her mother, 49, became upset with her for not picking up an item at the store, and pushed her out of the house and threw her shoes at her, according to the report; when she attempted to reenter, the mother would not let her in. The daughter said she felt soreness on her back and arms.
Police tried to speak to the mother by calling her cell phone, knocking on the door and windows of the house, and attempting to speak with her via the squad car Public Address system, but she did not respond.
When police were interviewing the daughter, the mother opened the front door and placed the daughter's purse on the front stoop. The police officer tried to make contact with the mother, but she refused to speak or allow the officer to come into the house. The daughter said she would sign complaints for domestic battery and asked for followup investigation. Police issued her an Illinois domestic violence form and forwarded information to Niles Family Services.
Man charged with retail theft after police say he stuffed items into bedding
Dariusz Swistak, 48, of Mount Prospect was charged iwth retail theft Nov. 28 at a store in the 5600 block of Touhy Ave. after loss prevention agents said he hid computer and printer accessories into a bed in a bag, then paid for the bed in a bag but not the concealed items, worth $290.74, according to the report.
His court date is Jan. 14 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
