Mother, Son Argue Over Taking In Nephew

The nephew has a history of violent behavior.

Police responded to a domestic dispute Monday at about 11:15 a.m. because a 75-year-old woman who lives in the 8000 block of Foster, Niles, said her son, 57, comes to her apartment and causes trouble and yells when she has visitors.

Police contacted the son, who said he is upset because his mother took in her nephew, who has a history of violent behavior. He told them he's worried that his mother might get hurt. Police issued a domestic violence form and sent a report to Niles Family Services.

Kevin Hummel, 43, of North Hoyne Avenue, Chicago, was charged with DUI and blood alcohol level over 0.08 after police stopped him for driving 62 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 8700 block of Milwaukee Avenue, southbound. He told police he had had two beers, and he showed impairment on field sobriety tests. His court date is Nov. 4 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
