Niles Blotter: Theft Charges, Death Investigation
In another incident, a woman was charged with theft. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.
Ashlelle Miller, 30, of Skokie was charged with retail theft April 30 at a Golf Mill Shopping Center store. A security agent said she concealed clothing items and exited the store without paying, according to the report. Her court date is May 29 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

Rosalio Torres, 32, of Chicago was charged with driving without a driver's license after police observed his black Honda Civic drive through a red light on Milwaukee Avenue and Harlem on April 30 just after 4 p.m., according to the report. When police stopped him and asked for his driver's license, he said he had never been issued one. His court date is May 16 in Skokie.

Niles police and fire departments responded to an April 29 call, just before 11:40 p.m., of a woman in the 8300 block of Knight saying her daughter was having trouble breathing, according to the report.The mother also said the daughter had been in pain from having back surgery three weeks prior. When firefighter-paramedics arrived, the woman was unresponsive and they began emergency life support and took her to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, police said. Hospital doctors pronounced the woman, Laura Kmiecek, 60, of Niles, deceased just after midnight on April 30.
