Niles Man Killed During Hostage Incident In Arlington Heights

He took a woman hostage in her Arlington Heights home Thursday night, police said, and police shot him; a police officer was also shot during the incident.



Eric D. Anderson of Niles was shot by police Thursday night during a hostage incident and taken to a hospital, where he later died, according to earlier Patch.com reports. 

Anderson may have a criminal record, according to the Daily Herald. However, Niles Police Sergeant Robert Tornabene said there is no record of him being arrested in Niles.

A police officer was also shot in the neck and/or facial area and was in critical but stable condition at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge after the incident.

Anderson, 41, took a woman hostage in her townhome on Windham Court in Arlington Heights, near Arlington Heights Road and Palatine Road, according to Patch.com reports.

A responding police officer was shot during the standoff, and remained in critical but stable condition Friday morning. After three hours went by, police stormed the townhome and shot Anderson, who later died from his wounds.
The hostage was physically unharmed.
