Niles Man Shot In Leg And Arm

One Niles man shot another.


Niles police responded Sunday evening to an incident of a 52-year-old Niles man, of the 7200 block of Greenleaf, shooting a 25-year-old man in a domestic battery. 

The Niles Police Department released the following statement. 

 On 10/20/2013 at about 7:40 p.m., the Niles Police Department responded to a residence in the 7200 block of Greenleaf for a domestic battery. It was learned while en route to the residence that a male had been shot in the leg and the offender was still inside the residence.

Upon officers' arrival, the Offender a 52-year-old male from Niles was taken into custody as he ran out of the front door of the residence. The victim, a 25 year old male from Niles was transported to Lutheran General Hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds to the left arm and left leg.

Witnesses inside the residence stated they overheard the offender and the victim arguing near the basement of the residence. At some point someone heard someone say “I will shoot you.”  Several seconds later a single gunshot was heard.

The gun was located inside the residence and the offender was transported to the Niles Police Department and is currently in custody. The incident is still currently under investigation. If and when charges are made more details will be released when they become available.
